Pairs: Statues Covered in Snow

Winter finally hit Winnipeg….. a few weeks late…and brought with it, some lovely, fluffy snow. All I can say is that I am glad we have a snow service guy who comes and cleans our driveway and sidewalks!

Snow does have an effect of covering up everything, including this pair of statues located on the west side of the Manitoba Legislature.

The first statue is Lord Dufferin, the Governor General of Canada from 1872-1878. He was the first Vice Regal Representative to visit Manitoba in 1877:

The second statue is Major General Wolfe, the British Commander at the Battle of the Plains of Abraham in 1759. This battle eventually led to the surrender of Quebec to the British:

They don’t look very dignified with the snow on their noses do they??
