One Four Challenge for November week 1- Oak Hammock Marsh

Another month for the One Four Challenge which you can read about it, and join it here. This challenge is about processing 1 image in 4 different ways over 4 weeks.

And another photo from Oak Hammock Marsh!! There were just a few hikers on the many walking trails and these 2 passed us while I was photographing some cat-tails and assorted details in the marsh.

original

The colour is a bit washed out but overall I like the photo..with the tall grasses on the left and the curved path on the right…..and the vast marsh in the background.

For the first week edit, I used a new-to-me Lightroom Preset by Light Stalking from their Vivid Presetify set called Vivid Lomo. It certainly added colour(vivid lomo being a very appropriate name for the preset!)..but a bit too much, so I desaturated it a tad and also applied the dehaze filter. A little bit of white balance correction since the clouds were a bit golden due to the preset and this is my week 1 edit:

The golden colours of autumn with some colourful hikers!

The horizon is almost smack dab in the center of the photo which breaks one of the basic rules of composition…so I am thinking that my be a perfect place to start for next week’s edit.

  1. Very nice, a good landscape with people doing something interesting ie walking away down the path. Lots of possibilities here 🙂

  2. This edit brought out the details in the clouds, which is just lovely. The golden hue makes it look like it was taken at the ‘golden hour’. Very nice. 😀 As for the horizon ‘almost smack dab in the center of the photo’, I’d like to interject that the hikers are at the right place for rule of thirds… so I find the composition pleasing. Looking forward to your future edits this month. 🙂
