WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge: CMHR Inspiration

This week’s WordPress Photo Challenge is “Inspiration”. Krista, who suggested this challenge, posted a photo of the outside of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights(in Winnipeg, Manitoba) as viewed from a revolving restaurant a few blocks away. So I immediately thought that I should post a photo from the inside of the museum for this week’s photo challenge!!

Since I am interested in artsy/craftsy stuff, one exhibit really got my attention and is inspiring too! According to the CMHR website this exhibit was based on a project done for World AIDS Day in 2012 when a group of grandmothers at the Hillcrest AIDS Centre in South Africa “yarn-bombed” a large tree as a symbol of hope and a reminder of families in need. You can read more about this project here.

This is the tree inside the CMHR, with crochet squares(from South Africa) assembled by a group of Winnipeg grandmothers:yarn bombed tree
