tutorial tsunami shibori with fabric paint

I had to do at least one of the tsunami tutorials and the first one I tried  is Gloria Hansen’s shibori with fabric paint. My first attempts didn’t use enough paint and had too many layers of fabric so there was alot of unpainted layers of fabric. But my next 2 attempts were a bit more successful- at least the fabric is usable, maybe for a few of Melanie Testa’s pencil cases from her recent  tutorial(see earlier post)

  1. Try diluting paint and overpainting the edges, working some color into the center area. This way you have the pretty shibori in the center area but also color over the white. Some of the best stuff I’ve ever created over the years was the result of overpainting. Give it a try!
